Comedy vs Calories: FIGHT!

3 men. 1400 calories. 1 Fringe show. Can a fifty minute comedy show burn the calories from a single McDonald’s meal? Join the creators of last year’s Fringe Festival hit, The Gentlemen’s Pratfall Club, as they confront bad eating habits, poor muscle tone and a smorgasbord of manly body issues. Comedy Suitcase blends satire and physical comedy to create a sweat soaked cardio comedy for the whole family. You’ll laugh. They might puke.

The Saturday Morning Submarine Adventure show

Comedy Suitcase is co-producing an all-ages puppet/improv show!

Click for The Saturday Morning Submarine Adventure show website

In this comedy show for audiences of all ages, the audience directs the cast of actors, puppets, and special guest stars in creating a new adventure story each week. Audience members under the age of 8 are invited to the stage to tell their own jokes!

The cast of character puppets includes a horse retiree, a very polite monster, and an emergency medical turtle (EMT). Together with actors they embark on adventures on the SS Adventure, a submarine of ridiculous proportions making its way through uncharted waters with a missing Captain but plenty of snacks. The submarine is piloted by an inexperienced though enthusiastic young skipper, a princess from the Land of Farfignewton, who leads absurd adventures despite one shipmate’s constant attempts to ruin the fun. Each week audience members will determine what kind of adventure the characters will have and will cast each puppet and actor into the role each will play.

Saturday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Snacks available for purchase.

Free balloons for kids. The show lasts 45 minutes. All tickets are $5.

Saturday mornings, 8/18 – 9/29, except Labor Day weekend.

The Gentlemen’s Pratfall Club

A struggling actor battles a cruel French clown for the most coveted role in children’s television: Captain Clumsy.  The mysterious Gentlemen’s Pratfall Club holds the key to victory.  Membership is free… but what are the hidden costs?  One man will discover standing up for what you believe in is easy; falling down for it is hard.

The Gentlemen’s Pratfall Club is an all-ages comedy about physical comedy.  What makes it funny?  Why do kids love it and adults pretend not to?  Is it lowbrow, highbrow or both— unibrow comedy for the whole family?

Written, directed and performed by Comedy Suitcase masterminds Joshua English Scrimshaw and Levi Weinhagen, creators of such wildly successful shows as Smothers Brothers Grimm, The Harty Boys Save Christmas and The Harty Boys in The Case of the Limping Platypus.

*The Gentlemen’s Pratfall Club was part of the 2012 Minnesota Fringe Festival

Butch Roy | Episode 4

Huge theater’s Butch Roy talks improv tech artistry, why he loves to mop his theater, and how he’s made juggling boring for his sons. How did a punk-rock high school misfit become a father at 16 and end up running his own theater? Find out in this episode of Pratfalls of Parenting.

Kevin Houle | Episode 3: Pratfalls of Parenting

This episode features a conversation with theater director Kevin Houle. Kevin gets into how mentorship impacted him, how becoming a father a little later in life gives patience, and how similar directing actors can be to getting a 2 year old to do what you want.
